RealNetworks, Inc. announced today it has sued the Microsoft Corporation for violations of federal and state antitrust laws. The complaint was filed in federal court in San Jose, California and alleges that Microsoft has illegally used its monopoly power to restrict competition, limit consumer choice and attempt to monopolize the growing field of digital media. ![]() Robert Margouleff on the state of audio surround sound Don’t get Robert Margouleff started on the subject of competing audio surround sound formats. It’s an unusual mix—and you may already own software that performs some of the functions—yet it’s hard to argue against the overall value of the package. The company bills Nero 6: Ultra Edition as the “ultimate CD/DVD burning suite.” It’s a fair appraisal, at least until something better comes along. We're
